'Bliss' is Essential 4/20 Viewing
Joe Begos' trippy modern vampire movie is an ideal horror joint for your 4/20/20
If you’re like me and find horror movies strangely comforting and genuinely relaxing in these fucked-up times, you may also enjoy watching them when you’re lit at home. That’s why, this 4/20, while we’re all stuck indoors and maybe looking for something to stream as we celebrate with our favorite “quarantine provisions,” I’m recommending Joe Begos’ drug-fueled, neon-soaked modern vampire nightmare, Bliss.
One of last year’s most criminally under-discussed and objectively under-seen genre flicks, Bliss is about an LA painter who finds herself in a creative slump until she starts experimenting with some wicked new hallucinogenics and possibly hooks up with some vampires. The visceral shenanigans that follow amount to a smooth, seductive, liberating, and horrifying sensory terror-ride that left a serious impression on me as I lived the full brunt of it at my local art theater, deep into a wicked edible high. Smoke a fatty or do whatever you do and check Bliss out for yourself. Happy 4/20 everyone, and stay safe!
Bliss is dope! I just watched Begos’ new film VFW the other night and that was really fun too.
