For Reels: May 2020

Welcome to the first For Reels, a monthly list of things we’re going to watch in the next month or else. When putting together these lists, we consider

1. what is going from theaters to a streaming service(s),

2. what are films we’ve been meaning to get around to,

3. what writing we’re working on that requires we (re)watch a film, and

4. what we’re being recommended to watch.

The fun part is sharing the list with you and, eventually, seeing what you’re all watching, too. But one thing at a time.

Here are films I plan to watch for the first time simply because I know I’ll like them. I’m someone who decided not all that long ago that I was going to stop feeling bad about as many things as I could help, and not having watched movies lots of people like and have deemed good is one of those things, sorry. Anyway, this is that list. 

1. The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)

Here are some films I’m going to be rewatching for ESH purposes. 20th Century Women is one of my favorite films and three are for that robot essay I was telling you about before. Not sure about Lady Bird yet.

Here are some films that have been recommended to me. I’m planning on subscribing to The Criterion Channel for this section.

Here are some films I love that I’m planning on rewatching in May, either because they’re newly available on a streaming service, or it’s just been a while and I’m jonesing to have them fresh in my system.

Here are some films that have been on my watchlist for a long-ass time, so I’m prioritizing them for May. Most of these are selections from The Criterion Channel and Shudder, both of which I highly recommend signing up for. The last two are in the Cassavetes box set I borrowed from Nic over a month ago and still haven’t touched. oops
